PRACTICAL APPROACHES TO RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Description. All businesses need to keep improving their products, services and processes to anticipate and respond to the changing needs of customers. Investment in research and development (R&D) with different degrees of sophistication is necessary to keep the business robust and competitive. However, typical small and medium enterprises (SMEs) see R&D as lofty ideals beyond their reach. The course is designed to demystify R&D and make it practical and relevant for SMEs.

Objectives. At the end of the course, the participants will be able to:
   - To orient participants on the essentials of research and development
     (as applied to meet the needs of Philippine small and medium
     enterprises and its allied institutions).
   - To orient participants on practical tools and techniques of research
     and development to address the needs of SMEs.

Who should attend. Managers, supervisors or technical personnel of SMEs of any business.

Methodology.This appreciation course uses lecturettes, simulation games, workshops and experiments.
