DESIGN PROCESS

Description. This course provides the student an experience of the essential elements of the design process which in this course are categorized as
1) defining the creative problem
2) research
3) conceptualization
4) thumbnail and roughs
5) comprehensive and final drawings
6) prototype making

Objectives.
1) To acquaint the participant with the complete design process as practiced in the local manufacturing environment
2) To expose the participant to respected designers in the community
3) To develop greater understanding of the manufacturing process and how these are linked to design
4) To develop in the participant an understanding of the potential of research in the design process
5) To develop drawing skills related to design
6) To develop visual thinking and creative abilities
7) To develop the ability to translate a drawing plan into a working prototype

Course Approach. The workshop consists of lectures, exposures of designers, shop visits and hands-on work.

Output. Various drawings and at least one (1) prototype
