BASIC WEB ADMINISTRATION USING JOOMLA!

Description. Joomla! is an award-winning Content Management System (CMS) that helps build powerful websites and other online applications.

As an Open Source solution that is freely available to everybody. Joomla benefits from a huge development and user community (over 50,000 registered users at forum.joomla.org!) - making it the most versatile platform for building scalable websites.

Objectives. At the end of this training, you will learn how to make your own Joomla! website, be able to add news, events, links, users, content pages, media and understand how to make the most of your Joomla! powered website.

Methodology.
Participants to this course should be familiar with basic information technology concepts. They must have basic keyboard operation skills.

Who should attend. This course is designed for anyone with basic computer skills who want to get a dynamic website up and running fast.

Outline
First Day
  • Introduction and Background to Open Source Software and Joomla!
  • Setup and Installation of Joomla.
  • Introduction to Joomla! site structure and administration control panel
  • Plan website structure, concept, and raw materials.

Second Day
  • How To: Add, Edit, and Delete content using WYSIWYG editor
  • How To: Load media and insert it into content
  • How To: Add content and components to menus including copy, move and
     order
  • How To: Share documents for download
  • How To: Layout your website including positioning modules, assign them to
     pages & templates

Third Day
  • Building your own website (Activity)
  • How To: Select & Install extensions (modules, components and bots).
  • How To: Select & Install templates.
  • Q & A Session - come prepared to ask all your questions about Website
    Management using Joomla.
  • Suggest a topic that you would like to know more about
