BASIC GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Description. The training course covers the basic operations in GIS such as data collection, data input, data analysis and data presentation. The training makes use of substantial input, discussion, demonstration and hands-on exercises. The participants of this training course have a basic knowledge on Desktop Mapping using Arcview.

Objectives. This training hopes to introduce the concept of geographic information systems. Specifically, this training will · Introduce the concepts of data acquisition and data management; · Assist the participants in linking geographic data to a database; · Introduce the use of GPS to gather field data · Help attendees in designing maps and charts

Methodology.
This three-day seminar will make use of substantial input sessions, presentations, discussion and hands-on exercises.

Who should attend. This course assumes that participants has previous knowledge of desktop mapping or GIS technology. Basic computer and research skill is required. Participants should know how to use a PC.

Presentation of MBN maps and charts for one barangay
