APPRECIATION COURSE ON WEB DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

Description. This module will take an introductory look at web design and development. Using a hands-on approach, students will learn to create basic web pages using common software and tools and dreamweaver's unique features and tools.

Objectives. At the end of the course, the participants will be able to develop simple web pages using Adobe Photoshop, Image Ready and Dreamweaver.

Pre-requisites. Basic computing knowledge assumed; experience with Windows OS helpful. Desire to learn about web design.

DAY 1 
   * The Website Development Cycle
   * Basic Operation of Photoshop
         - Discussion of Digital Designing using Photoshop
             a.) resolution, image size
             b.) file types and extensions
         - Photoshop Tools
             a.) selections
             b.) moving, transforming
             c.) painting
             d) using layers
             e.) retouching photos

DAY 2
   * Basic Operation of Image Ready
         - Introduction of Image Ready
         - Slicing the image
         - Optimizing image
         - Animation 
         - Roll-over buttons
         - Hyperlinks
         - Image mapping        

DAY 3
   * Macromedia Dreamweaver
         - Page Properties
         - Tracing image
         - HTML styles
         - Cascading Style Sheets
         - Controlling the Framset Property
         - working with Tables
         - Checking links, orphaned files, broken links
